Will ITV Launch Own Lottery Programme
As the BBC announced its line up, but few other details, for the weekly live National Lottery draw, the speculation continued as to how ITV might respond. Rumours range from simply running the winning numbers across the bottom of the screen to putting on a competitive lottery-associated programme.
The BBC’s presenters will be ex-Blue Peter girl (now GMTV presenter) Anthea Turner and comedian, Gordon Kennedy. The initial draw described as an “extravaganza” will be hosted by Noel Edmonds, but it is not anticipated that he will play any further part in future programmes which will be broadcast from different venues across the country. BBC Radio 1 will also carry the draw.
Camelot confirmed that the BBC has signed a three-year contract – no costs were mentioned. First draw is on November 19th.
