Williams Signs As New Carat Press Director

Transmitter Media Group, Carat, has announced the appointment of Dominic Williams to the newly-created position of Press director after a three month selection process including both internal and external candidates.

Williams has been at Carat for eight years and is currently head of trading for Carat Direct Communications, joining as a press buyer specialising in direct response clients.

The new role will see him responsible for developing Carat’s press buying capability, negotiating press agency deals, building relationships with print media owners and being an industry figurehead for Carat’s press expertise.

Williams was a founder associate director of Carat Direct Communications, which launched in April 2003 with Helen Davis at the helm, since then the team has won £50 million in new business.

Commenting on the appointment, Carat managing director Neil Jones said: “Its great to be able to promote within and Dominic is an outstanding talent who has a real passion for the press medium. He is very popular with his team and is renowned in the market for his negotiation skills.”

Jones was appointed managing director of Carat last month, filling the shoes of Colin Mills, who left the post earlier this year with no new role to go to (see Neil Jones Appointed MD Of Carat).

The 40 year old media boss was previously commercial director at Carat, joining the company in 1991 from rival Zenith Media. His new role will see him working on Carat’s newly-won COI Communications TV account, as well as working to create a more integrated company as a whole.
