The winners of the PPA editorial and publishing excellence awards have been announced at last week’s ceremony at Grosvenor House, hosted by impressionist John Culshaw.
Grazia magazine, Legal Week and Asos.com came out with top prizes in their individual categories.
Bauer’s Grazia was named COMAG consumer magazine of the year, with judges praising it for being “unique” and “reflecting society”.
The latest consumer magazine figures show that Grazia had a total circulation of 227,083, up by 17,000 year on year (see ABC Results Jul-Dec 2007: Women’s Weeklies See Sizeable Declines With Few Bucking The Trend).
Incisive Media’s Legal Week was named Deloitte Weekly business magazine of the year for its “agenda setting coverage” in 2007 with judges saying: “It demonstrates great knowledge and advice”.
Asos.com was the other big winner, being named M-Real customer magazine of the year for being “a unique trend setter” with an “extraordinary compulsion to buy”.
Psychologies editor Maureen Rice won the Menzies distribution editor of the year, while IPC’s NME won CDS global consumer media brand of the year and the Times Educational Supplement) was named Optima business media brand of the year.
More than 1000 guests attended the event in Park Lane to celebrate magazine publishing excellence.
