Wireless Group Invests £1.5m In Scottish Radio Stations

The Wireless Group is to invest £1.5m in the company’s Scottish operations, which include three stations: Scot FM, based in Edinburgh, 96.3 Q.FM, based in Glasgow and Wave 102 , based in Dundee.

Kelvin MacKenzie, chairman and chief executive, said: “Scotland is fundamental to the success of The Wireless Group (TWG), and these announcements demonstrate our commitment. Our progress to date places TWG as a genuine competitor to the heritage brands.”

The main developments resulting from the funding will include a new £500,000 digital broadcasting facility for Qfm, allowing the station to capitalise on its presence on the Score Digital Glasgow multiplex (see Score Digital Is Sole Bidder For Glasgow Digital Radio Licence). Programming at Scot FM will see an increase in investment and all the Scottish stations will see an increase in marketing support. In addition a dedicated advertising agency sales team will be established to work alongside TWG’s national sales house, Impact, to provide improved product knowledge and service levels to Scottish businesses.
