The IPA has nominated Stephen Woodford, chief executive of WCRS, to succeed Bruce Haines, group chief executive of Leo Burnett, as President of the IPA next April.
Woodford has had a long association with the IPA and is currently the joint chairman of the IPA diversity project. He is also the chairman of the Value of Advertising Committee which, amongst other things, aims to attract more people from different ethnic groups to advertising and break down the white, male and middle-class profile of the industry. He was also involved in the Women in Advertising report, written by Debbie Klein, the planning director of WCRS.
Woodford commented: “I am delighted to receive the Council’s nomination to succeed Bruce as President. His legacy will be a real sense of new energy and creativity following through the IPA’s many activities. I am looking forward to building on this and helping the IPA to continue its excellent service to its members.”
Other nominations include; Tony Fenton, finance director of MediaCom, who was nominated for the position of honorary treasurer and John Banks, chief executive of Banks Hoggins O’Shea, who has been nominated to serve a second term as honorary secretary.
The formal election process will take place at next year’s election of IPA officers at the Annual General Meeting in April.
The IPA also announced, along with the PRCA and MCCA, it is establishing the Communications Agency Federation (CAF). The Federation is designed to provide a forum in which the associations can exchange views, co-ordinate their work and manage joint projects.
