BBC and ITV have drawn up a complementary transmission schedule of matches in this summer’s football World Cup in America.
The BBC and ITV, who together hold the exclusive rights to the World Cup, will alternate coverage completely on six of the 14 days in the first phase of the tournament.
Detailed programme schedules will be issued at a later date; however, the first two games to be played by the Republic of Ireland will be covered by ITV; the third match in the qualifying phase by the BBC.
