World Interactive Television Launches With Astrology Service

World Interactive Television (WIT) is set to launch today with an online astrology service. The world’s first internet-based interactive “pay-to-view” TV company has been formed by Kelvin MacKenzie, Stephen Kirk, the founder of Cable London, and Bruce Gyngell, former chairman of TV-AM.

Kirk will be the chief executive of WIT and its first venture will offer 24-hour one-to-one astrological consultations under the guidance of Shelley von Strunkel (www.liveastro.com). A fee of £1.50 per minute via premium rate telephone line will be charged for a consultation which lasts a minimum of ten minutes.

Stephen Kirk said: “WIT is the first internet-based television company to combine genuine interactivity, an e-commerce solution and a platform for the next generation of digital broadcasting. This is the first time that ‘me’ television – TV tailored to the requirements of the individual – will be on offer.”

Other services on dedicated websites are planned with support from 3i, Europe’s leading venture capital company, which has invested £1 million in WIT.
