WPP Buys Into Digital

WPP has taken a stake in Syzygy, the London-based digital media company. Syzygy specialises in the strategy, development and marketing of commercial Internet and intranet solutions. The agency’s client list includes Duracell, Kimberly-Clark, Kodak, Kraft Jacobs-Suchard, Mars and PepsiCo.

Commenting on the partnership, Eric Salama, WPP’s director of strategy, said: “Syzygy is a dynamic operation with a proven track record of innovative work. They bring some terrific talent and a new dimension of creative energy and technical expertise which will complement our companies’ activities in interactive media and offer clients a valuable new resource.”

The stake in Syzygy brings WPP’s new media investment portfolio to six companies, each one specialising in a different facet of digital communications. Earlier investments include Wired Ventures, Individual, Broadvision, Media Technology Ventures and Peapod.
