WPP Buys The Brand Union

Advertising and marketing group, WPP, has acquired The Brand Union, the parent company of branding group Lambie-Nairn. The acquisition also includes packaging specialist Tutssels and commercial production company The Clinic.

Lambie-Nairn is most famous for its branding of the original Channel 4 and its current BBC work, which includes the BBC1 hot-air balloon. Its clients also include the New Millenium Experience Company, Carlton and British Telecom. Tutssels has worked for clients such as UDV, Bass and Glaxo-Wellcome in the drinks and healthcare sector.

The Brand Union overall has a turnover of £12 million. Its three divisions will continue to operate autonomously within WPP’s structure. Commenting on the acquisition WPP’s chief executive Martin Sorrell said: “The move is a natural addition to our Branding and Identity portfolio and is an incredible opportunity for WPP to strengthen its creative reputation and its offer of the very best in branding and identity to our clients worldwide.”
