WPP Buys UK-based Management Consultancy
WPP has announced the acquisition of Glendinning, a sales and marketing management consultancy. The UK-based group helps clients such as Coca-Cola, Nestle and Tesco develop sales development skills, customer marketing and management.
WPP has made a signed a number of deals in recent weeks (see WPP Acquires European Branding Consultancy), taking advantage of cheap acquisitions as the market show signs of a downturn. Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, told MediaGuardian last week that the recent fall in share price in the advertising and marketing sectors offered “opportunities” for his group.
Commenting on today’s deal, Peter Swift, managing director of Glendinning, said: “Joining forces with WPP will align Glendinning with a strategically and culturally compatible partner whose vision clearly matches out own and whose geographical spread will both support and accelerate our growth in international markets.”
