WPP Director Joins Government Task Force
The newly christened Department for Culture, Media and Sport has appointed an inter-departmental creative industries task force. Its members include Richard Branson; Sir David Puttnam, the film-maker; Alan McGee, the owner of Foundation Records; the designer Paul Smith and the main Board director of WPP, Eric Salama.
Chris Smith, the secretary of state for culture, media and sport, said: “I am committed to developing a new and dynamic approach to the creative economy. By this I mean those goods and services in the cultural sector, including the arts, music, media, heritage, sport, intellectual property, publishing and design. Its a long list, but wealth and job creation are common to them all. My objectives for the task force will be to provide coordination between the activities of different Government departments. Boost the generation of wealth and employment in the creative industries and increase creative activity and excellence in the UK.”
