X Factor Stole The Show

The X Factor ITV1’s The X Factor attracted over 10 million peak viewers this weekend, well ahead of other weekend viewing figures.

On Saturday, almost 11 million peak viewers tuned into see the remaining 24 acts perform at their mentor’s mansions, while the second-part show on Sunday attracted over 10 million viewers.

The judges were forced to make their final decisions this weekend, each choosing three acts to take to the live shows with them.

On Sunday, as the hopefuls learnt their fate, ITV1 banked 9.5 million average viewers and a 42.7% audience share.

BBC One’s rival show, Strictly Come Dancing, fell slightly behind this week with 9.2 million viewers on Saturday evening and 8.3 million on Sunday.

However, both programmes gained a peak audience for BBC One – with the channel also holding the peak audience from 4.30pm to 8pm on Saturday with other popular programmes, such as Merlin.

Elsewhere, ITV1’s film premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire gained nearly 8 million peak viewers and a 28% average audience share between 7.10pm and 10pm on Sunday.
