X-Files creator to make exclusive pilot for Amazon

X-Files creator Chris Carter is to write and direct a new supernatural thriller pilot for Amazon Studios, Deadline has reported.

The unique pilot, ‘The After’, is to be set at the moment of apocalypse, and according to Marc Rosen, the CEO of the pilot’s production company, Georgeville TV, will be “a human, grounded story about the moment when we realise all of our worst fears about the world and its future”.

Earlier this year, Amazon announced that it will be releasing a series of exclusive pilots on LoveFilm, as the company aims to take on TV broadcasters by making web-only programmes.

‘The After’ becomes Amazon’s latest addition to its unique pilot venture, following the commission of exclusive drama ‘Bosch’. A release date has not yet been set.
