X-Files Prove Excellent For BBC1

The BBC’s decision to switch The X-Files from BBC2 to BBC1 has paid off with the show entering the top thirty programmes list for the first time. The episode broadcast on 30th January was watched by 9.44 million viewers and had a 45% consolidated share of the viewing audience.
Channel 4’s new documentary series Seasiders about the day to day running of a holiday camp has entered Channel 4’s top ten with 3.71 million viewers. The American import E.R is the most popular non-soap opera show on Channel 4 with 4.04 million people watching on the 31st January.
Total television for the week ending 04/02/96 has fallen by 1.2% when compared to the same week last year. In Astra panel homes the station that has increased the most on its previous week total is Sky Sports, which is up from an average of 52 minutes viewed last week to 1 hour this week.
