Xmas Highlights Produce Biggest Ever Sun

The Sun newspaper has produced what it claims is its biggest ever issue, at 104 pages. Boosted by both a Rosemary West and a Xmas viewing pull-out, this effectively doubles the Sun’s pagination from its usual 50-odd pages.

This year’s Christmas schedules from ITV and BBC show ITV in a big effort to improve its line-up after last year’s poor performance. ITV’s big movie of the day is the premiere of Whoopi Goldberg’s film Sister Act. There are specials featuring Take That in concert, Robson and Jerome, and the cricket comedy Outside Edge. There is also a new version of the children’s classic Wind in the Willows and an hour long version of Coronation Street.

Over on BBC1 there are Christmas Specials for Last of the Summer Wine, One Foot in the Grave and All The Best for Christmas where Mike Yarwood hosts a selection of favourite moments from the BBC Christmas comedy archives. BBC1’s big films are the premieres of Steven Speilberg’s Hook and the Robert Redford/ Demi Moore film, Indecent Proposal.
