XTP System Will Not Launch This Year
![]()
Viacom Outdoor has confirmed that its XTP cross-track projection system will not launch this year as expected.
The launch of XTP system has already been put off twice due to a combination of safety issues and financial problems (see Viacom Outdoor Delays Launch of XTP), a delay which outdoor buying company Blade has estimated could cost the outdoor industry £10m in revenue this year (see XTP Delay Could Cost Outdoor Industry £10m).
Trials of the system were due to begin at the end of this month. However, a spokeswoman for the company today confirmed that the launch has been pushed back a third time and will not take place before the end of this year, due to DHJ, the Swedish company responsible for installing and maintaining the digital advertising screens, going into liquidation.
Viacom Outdoor insists that the project is still going ahead and according to a company spokeswoman, “rescue packages are currently being discussed”. However, the company has avoided setting a new launch date for the project, saying it would be “unfair to advertisers and clients.”
