Yorkshire Tyne Tees Results

Yorkshire Tyne Tees Television has announced interim results for the period ending the six months to 30 June 1995.

Pre-tax profit is up on the same period last year, at £7.4 million compared to £0.3m, and an interim dividend of 3.7p compared with 0.1p last year.

Ward Thomas, Group Chairman and Chief Executive, said that the company was now tightly controlled and as concerned with programme making and as successful in that field as it had ever been. He also commented that in terms of revenue,the autumn quarter looks encouraging as forward bookings indicate that the upward trend will continue.

Mr Thomas also added that he welcomed the decision to merge the oversees sales arms of Yorkshire Tyne Tees and Granada, which he regarded as a logical step towards integrating peripheral aspects of ITV. He pointed out that no meaningful discussion could take place about possible restructuring of the industry so long as the legislation did not allow any organisation to hold more than two licences.
