YouTube launches UK movie rental service

YouTube
According to YouTube’s blog, it has now launched its UK movie rental service.

The service originally launched in the US in May, with Canada coming on board in September.

The company has signed several deals with both major Hollywood and British film studios, allowing a library of over a thousand full-length feature films now available to rent by youtube.com/movies.

With YouTube now included on most new connected TVs in the UK, this makes a rental option of just £2.49-£3.49 per film a very attractive offer, and puts it in direct competition with LOVEFiLM.
