YTTV Seeking Partners For C5 Bid
Yorkshire Tyne Tees is holding talks with other companies about bidding for the Channel 5 licence, the chairman, Ward Thomas has revealed. These include Virgin, Channel Nine and US groups. Ward Thomas, announcing YTTV’s results, said that he thought the most sensible approach would be for all the ITV companies to form a consortium to bid for the licence. Ward Thomas also admitted he was one of the ITV chairmen behind calls for the privatisation of C4.
YTTV’s results for the six months to September showed pre-tax profits of £4.7m compared with £11.6m loss for the same period last year.
