YTTV September Revenue Questioned
Speculation has arisen today over the true revenue figure achieved by the combined YTTV in September.
It would appear that YTTV initially were pulling revenue forward into September, thus producing an artificially high revenue figure, and thus presumably higher CPT figures. It would appear today however that YTTV have now decided to push revenue back into October – traditionally one of the heaviest months for sales, in an attempt not to provide too cheap a deal for those buying in October/November.
YTTV’s practice of pulling revenue is not an uncommon one amongst ITV companies and buyers will have to wait until end of year figures are produced for each contractor to get the true picture of how well each station has done.
MediaTel estimates, prior to today’s speculation, put YTTV share of revenue at 13.11% (£17.9m) of a £136.88m ITV total. Today however some buyers are putting the figure below 8% (£10m) of a total estimated to now be below £130m.
Nobody at Laser, the LWT sales operation which began selling airtime for YTTV at the beginning of this month, was available for comment this morning.
