Zee TV Receives A Warning
The Asian channel, Zee TV,has been formally warned by the Independent Television Commission (ITC) as it has repeatedly failed to comply in the areas of advertising content and scheduling.
Rules have been breached seven times since the end of 1995, and the broadcaster failed to respond to enquiries within time limits set by ITC staff. Interventions by the ITC were taken against content including an advert for a palmist and another for tobacco.
A spokesperson for Zee TV told Newsline today that the reason for the channel’s breach of rules was due to the creation of a new management team, and that “measures have been put in place, in respect to monitoring, checking and scheduling, to prevent them from happening again. Hopefully, we’re not anticipating anymore tellings-off!”
