Zit Goes For It Against Rival Viz

Billy The Fish and Sid The Sexist of Viz fame will face heightened competition later this year when rival comic, Zit, relaunches in a blitz which may well stun the alternative market.

Having been sold by original owner, Humour Publications, Zit now aims to take itself more seriously (in a humorous sort of way), by taking advantage of the decline in sales for John Brown’s Viz, currently slipping from over 1 million copies at its height, to just over 875,000.

Launched in April 1992 with an initial print run of 250,000, Zit failed to conquer the Viz market, but with the launch of below – the -line promotions, due to begin in September, the comic aims to heighten its image, especially amongst students, who tend to make up a vast percentage of alternative comic readers.
