9pm Triumph For Trial And Retribution

Trial And Retribution Trial and Retribution triumphed in the 9pm slot last night, beating BBC One’s Fairytales and documentary A Boy Called Alex on Channel 4.

The hard hitting ITV1 crime drama had a peak audience of 5.4 million adult viewers (a 24.9% share of the audience), while 5.3 million (a 24.6% share) stuck with the show for its hour long running time..

Fairytales, on BBC One, starred Denise Van Outen in an update of the Emperor’s New Clothes and the hour long show had a peak of 3.4 million adults (a 16.3% share).

At the start of February, Van Outen will be teaming up with her old pal Johnny Vaughan on the Capital Breakfast Show on Capital 95.8 (see Johnny And Denise Together Again).

Also on at 9pm was A Boy Called Alex on Channel 4. This followed Alex, a gifted 16-year-old Eton schoolboy who suffers from cystic fibrosis.

The life affirming programme picked up a peak of 2.7 million adult viewers (a 12.8% share). An average of 2.5 million adults stayed with the programme for its duration.
