AA Seeks New DG As Brown Steps Down

AA Logo Andrew Brown, director general of the Advertising Association (AA) has announced his intention to stand down from the position at the end of the year.

Making the announcement at a meeting of the AA’s Council this afternoon, Brown said: “I have had a thoroughly enjoyable thirteen years, but now feel for personal and professional reasons that it is a good time to stand down. The AA is a smashing team of individuals that have achieved much and will continue to do so under new leadership.

“I am immensely grateful to them and to our members from whom great support has always been forthcoming. During my tenure I have had the privilege of working with a number of very distinguished practitioners who have volunteered their time as Officers of the AA. We have had four Presidents, four Chairmen and six Vice-Chairmen over that thirteen-year period. I am indebted to them all.”

Mark Lund, chairman of the AA will now hold principal responsibility for appointing Brown’s successor.

During his time with the AA, Brown has ensured the view of the AA has been heard at the highest levels over a huge number of issue areas both in the UK and in Europe.

The outgoing DG will continue to work with the association, however, as he maintains his chairmanship of the Committee of Advertising Practice and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice on a part time basis. Brown will also remain a director of the Broadcast Advertising Standards Board of Finance.
