ABC Release To Feature Magazine Group Reports

ABC Release To Feature Magazine Group Reports

ABC Logo This Thursday’s ABC release will for the first time list together the total magazine audience for print, online and events.

Both BBC Magazines and IPC Media are releasing ABC group reports, which list print, online and event data in one document.

BBC Magazines, a division of the BBC’s commercial arm BBC Worldwide, has today released a group report for the July-to-December period, with both publishers issuing a group report for the January-to-June period this Thursday.

ABC chief executive Chris Boyd said: “It has never been so important for media owners and buyers to consider full brand reach when making decisions.

“The report enables media owners to offer agencies and advertisers verified, cross-platform data in an increasingly complex market – something that will become ever more important.”

Peter Phippen, managing director of magazines at BBC Worldwide, said: “It is no longer good enough to look at on and offline audience figures separately.

“Increasing numbers of clients are using our brands across print, face-to-face and digital platforms to communicate with our audiences.”

The US ABC board has agreed to produce a single combined figure for newspaper and online readership from November this year (see US ABC Counts Print And Online Figures Into Official Circulation).

However, Boyd said that there are currently no plans to add a similar figure to audit certificates in Britain (see British ABC Has No Plans To Combine Print And Online Figures).

It was recently reported that the ABC could implement major changes to the way magazines and newspapers report audience figures, with magazines moving to a monthly frequency and newspapers moving to a daily frequency (see ABC Could Make Major Changes To Reporting Structure).

NewsLine will have full coverage and in-depth analysis of the major sectors following the ABC concurrent release for the first six months of 2007 on Thursday.
