Aegis Buys Majority Stake In Chinese Media Firm

Media and communications firm Aegis Group has acquired a 70% stake in New Voice, an established marketing and events company in China.

The investment sees Aegis purchase the firm for approximately £5.4 million, payable over two years, and subject to performance criteria.

In addition, Aegis will also have the option of acquiring the remaining 30% of the firm from 2012, paying a maximum of £3.1 million for the remaining share.

New Voice was established in 2001, providing PR, brand consultancy, marketing and planning services to clients both in China and international markets.

Aegis will now use the firm to extend its existing offering in these areas, building the potential for integrated media, marketing and communications services.

Announcing the deal, Aegis CEO Robert Lerwill said: “New Voice is an established company with a good reputation. The marketing and communications sector in China is growing at over 20% a year and this partnership will allow us to provide complementary services to our client base. We have a strong presence in Asia and this transaction is consistent with our strategy of growing our networks in the region through partnerships, acquisitions and market share gains.”
