Any Dream Will Do Saturday saw BBC One’s Any Dream Will Do continue to dominate its ITV1 rival Grease Is The Word, picking up a peak audience of 5.5 million adult viewers for its 8pm showing.

Across its hour long running time, the show picked up an average of 5.3 million adult viewers (a 28.4% share), whilst over on ITV1, Grease Is The Word managed a peak of four million adults and an average of 3.6 million (a 19.2% share) across its hour and a half slot.

The second instalment of Any Dream Will Do, on at 10pm, brought in an even higher peak audience, as 5.7 million adults switched on to see which of the prospective Josephs would be kicked off.

Daniel was ejected from the show after a sing-off against Lewis, parting with the words: “I just want to reiterate what the other Josephs have said – this has been the most incredible experience, and I just want to thank everybody.”

Prior to Any Dream Will Do, BBC One aired Dr Who, starring the dishy David Tennant as the irrepressible Doctor. The show picked up a peak audience of six million adults (a 33.6% share) and an average of 5.4 million.

On Sunday, BBC One’s biggest audience came for the British Academy Film And Television Awards which saw Victoria Wood named best actress for her performance in ITV1’s Housewife, 49.

The awards show attracted a peak audience of 5.5 million adults (a 24.1% share) and an average of 4.6 million across its two hour running time.

However, ITV1 had the beating of BAFTA on Sunday, with Heartbeat and Kingdom both getting strong audience figures.

Heartbeat, on at 8pm, grabbed itself a peak of 7.3 million adults whilst Kingdom, following on at 9pm, had a peak of 5.9 million.
