AOL Time Warner Thought To Be Close To IPC Deal

AOL Time Warner is now very close to sealing a takeover deal for UK magazine publishing group, IPC Media, according to recent press reports. This morning’s Financial Times claims that the two groups are now negotiating a price for IPC; it is expected that it AOL Time Warner will pay around £1.2 billion for the group.

These reports follow a number of months’ of on-off negotiations (see AOL Time Warner Scraps Talks With IPC). It is thought that the price of IPC was the sticking point in the talks. Both parties have so far declined to comment on the speculation.

If AOL Time Warner is successful in buying IPC, it will represent the global media giant’s first significant European acquisition. IPC Media is the UK’s largest consumer publisher, with more than 100 brands in its portfolio. Its titles include Woman’s Own and Loaded.
