Apple amazes users with World Emoji Day announcement

Emoji day has rolled around again for Apple and, to celebrate, the tech firm has announced that it will be releasing new emojis in a free software update later this year.

The new emoji characters will include both bald and redhead personalisation options, as well as an exciting expansion in heart related designs.

However, Apple’s announcement has failed to impress everyone. One Twitter user, @ophluchin, wrote (sarcastically): “I’m so glad that Flint still doesn’t have clear water, children are still in cages, the wage gap is very prominent, but we have 70 new emojis to look forward too!!!”

@ophluchin’s tweet managed to attract some support , with six retweets and 16 likes. However, the internet media and news company Buzzfeed saw a much better response, accumulating 310 likes in two days for its more supportive tweet: “Even more haired options”.

It therefore appears that the majority of Apple users are happy with the news; certainly, the Mediatel Newsline team are excited to use these 70 new emojis on our friends and family.
