Bampton Takes Temporary Charge Of Viacom

Viacom Brand Solutions has appointed sales director Nick Bampton as acting managing director until a replacement is found for Paul Curtis, who left to join Sky Media earlier this week.

Bampton will temporarily head up the brand focused sales house, which handles airtime for the MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and Paramount channels. He will report directly to Michiel Bakker, executive vice-president and managing director of MTV Networks, UK, Eire and Nordic.

Bampton said: “Personally it’s very sad for me to see Paul move on. He’s been instrumental in leading a team that has enjoyed tremendous growth over the last three years. However as everyone knows within Viacom, this was a team effort and we will continue to develop new ideas and award-winning solutions for advertisers.”

He added: “I am proud to be given the opportunity of heading up Viacom Brand Solutions during this transition and feel confident we can continue to innovate and drive our business forward.”

Curtis and Brampton had worked together for some time after both joining Viacom from Channel Five. Curtis (pictured) oversaw considerable growth at the company, which was set up three years ago to capitalise on growth in the multi-channel market.

Earlier this week Curtis announced his intention to join Sky Media, the advertising sales division of BSkyB, in the newly created position of deputy managing director, following the departure of Mark Chippendale as head of advertising sales (see Sky Picks Curtis As New Advertising Sales Boss).
