BBC Ahead Of ITV With Prime Time Clean Sweep

Eastenders' Dan The BBC rose above competition from ITV last night, with non-stop victory from 7:30 fuelled by a winning mixture of soap, drama and documentary.

Eastenders began the Corporation’s winning run with 9.1 million adult viewers on average, following ITV’s highest rating programme of the evening, Emmerdale, which drew 7.8 million.

BBC One’s medical drama Holby City followed, attracting 6.4 million to double the audience of ITV1’s competing Celebrity Fit Club with 3.2 million on average.

The Corporation’s documentary series Whistleblower also proved successful, notching up an average of 4.2 million adult viewers against ITV’s The Best Man with 3.6 million.

Elsewhere, Five’s CSI:Crime Scene Investigation performed well, drawing 3.1 million adults on average, followed by a repeat from the police franchise’s earlier CSI:Miami series, watched by 2.2 million.
