BBC Could Launch New Sport Magazine

Bbc BBC Magazines is reported to be planning the release of a new sports focused title with the code name Project Robin.

The new title would hit newsstands on a weekly basis and be edited by the former editor of Match magazine, Ian Foster, according to a report on Mad.co.uk.

BBC Magazines previously published a Match of the Day spin-off title aimed at the men’s market, although that closed in 2001 with a final ABC figure, for July to December 2000, of 54,014.

Londoners can currently get a free helping of sporting news every Friday with the magazine Sport, which launched in September 2006 (see Free Sport Magazine Launches In London).

The launch of the new sport mag would come just in time for the Beijing Olympics, which get going in August.
