BBC One Wins Detective Drama Duel

Dalziel And Pascoe The concluding half of ITV’s detective drama The Commander aired last night, drawing a healthy 5.6 million adult viewers on average, but failing to top BBC detective stalwarts Dalziel and Pascoe.

The Corporation’s detective duo notched up an average audience of 6.2 million adults, securing a 27.8% share to knock ITV, with a share of 26.3%, into second place.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Help Me To Speak, a moving documentary following troubled teenagers with speech impediments, drew a respectable 1.3 million, followed by US medical drama, ER, with a similar sized audience.

Five’s continuing documentary series charting Extraordinary People also performed well, attracting just under 1.4 million on average with the story of faith healer Audrey Santo. The programme narrowly outperformed US drama Prison Break, which fell short of 1.4 million in the following hour.
