BBC’s Rome Conquers All With 6.3 Million
The BBC’s epic historical drama Rome conquered all in its path last night, drawing a massive 6.3 million adults and securing a 28.2% share with its hour long debut at 9pm.
Going head to head with ITV’s network premiere of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, Rome trounced its sci-fi competitor, which averaged a comparatively meagre 3 million in its overlapping hour with the BBC’s drama, and trailed off afterwards, averaging 2.5 million in its final two hours.
Elsewhere Channel 4’s Grand Designs averaged 3.3 million adult viewers, providing the highlight of Channel 4’s evening. Hit american drama Lost followed, drawing 3.1 million on average.
