BBC’s Strictly Wipes The Dance Floor With X Factor

Strictly Come Dancing Winners Rival talent contests Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor went head to head on Saturday, and although both saw respectably high audiences, the BBC’s ballroom-based finale secured a resounding victory over ITV’s singing showdown.

Securing average adult viewers of 9.6 million, BBC One’s Strictly… was head and shoulders above X Factor, which drew 7.7 million viewers in the same time slot.

The BBC’s results show, drawing 9.5 million, and earning a viewing share of 40%, saw cricketer Darren Gough romp home to victory with dance partner Lilia Kopylova, while ITV’s competing X Factor results drew 8 million.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s film, Good Will Hunting drew 1.2 million, while Five saw its largest audience of the evening with court based drama, Law and Order, notching up 1.7 million average viewers.
