BeIn Media Group is first tier-one TV provider to use Senza cloud connector

BeIn Media Group has gone live with the Synamedia Senza cloud video delivery platform and cloud connector device to support the launch of its subscription service, BeIn Stream, in selected countries in the MENA region.

The company is the first tier-one TV service provider to introduce the technology and it means that all application and user experience rendering is being performed in the cloud rather than on the client device.

BeIn Stream “cloud connectors” (effectively thin-client streaming set-top boxes) are already in subscriber homes. The devices (pictured) are made available via physical and online retailers including Amazon.

The streaming platform launched in March and the sports and entertainment broadcaster believes the new service can reach new markets and consumer segments.

Israel Esteban, chief technology officer at BeIn, says: “BeIn is at the forefront of embracing advanced technologies that can grow our business by reaching new customer segments across a broader array of devices. We have adopted several breakthrough technologies from Synamedia over the years and we look forward to extending our partnership as we explore the opportunities offered by Senza.”

Benefits of Senza, cited in a joint statement, include the ability to update the user experience instantly, with minimal development effort and without the need for software updates to every device.

“Senza transforms the economics of reaching consumers by avoiding platform ecosystem fees — including revenue shares — and lowering onboarding costs by up to 90%,” Synamedia declared.

“By leveraging the power of cloud graphics processing, Senza is able to deliver a personalised, immersive user experience with advanced graphics and AI-generated synthetic video.”
