Vincent Bolloré, chairman of Groupe Bolloré, has upped his stake in Aegis to 28.8%, after yesterday’s announcement by the Aegis board that they would not be supporting his nominees (see External Candidates For Aegis Board).
The board’s opposition to Groupe Bolloré’s nominations is in large part due to Vincent Bolloré’s ownership of 29% 0f Aegis’ competitor Havas, and adds to the ongoing speculation concerning Bolloré’s intentions.
Mr Bolloré has been steadily increasing his stake in the company since the beginning of the year and this may be a continuation of what many city analysts see as an orchestrated a move to join the two companies (see Bollore Raises Aegis Stake To Over 25%).
Shareholders have been given the opportunity to consider the nominations in depth, which is why the AGM has been postponed from its orginal date of May 24
