Bollore Reveals Management Plans

Vincent Bollore plans to tighten and streamline Havas management structure, saying in a recent interview with a French newspaper that he wants the advertising company to be run by a smaller, tighter group.

The Havas chairman wants to reduce the number of administrators and limit the number of committees within the Paris based company’s management.

Speaking to Le Fiagaro, Bollore also said that he felt he should be allowed to be involved in UK media and communications company, Aegis.

Bollore claimed that “one can’t imagine” that having a 26% stake in Aegis doesn’t include the right to be on or involved with its board.

He said: “One can certainly imagine supporting candidates that represent the Bollore group without having conflicts of interest.”

Bollore’s recent comment will displease Aegis chief executive, Robert Lerwill, who said earlier this year that he would be opposed to granting Bollore a seat on the Aegis board of directors (see Lerwill Denies Possible Havas Merger).

Speaking to French daily newspaper, La Tribune, the Aegis boss explained: “This would pose a conflict of interests with our clients.”

Bollore has steadily been increasing his share in the UK media and communications company, recently purchasing a further 2.9 million shares, pushing his stake to 25.47% (see Bollore Pushes Aegis Stake To 25.47%).
