Vincent Bolloré, chairman of Havas, has hinted that he may buy shares in Emap, saying that he is trying to build a significant force in media and communications the size of Publicis or WPP, according to The Times.
The Times reports that Bolloré said Emap could be an “interesting investment”, although he is currently focused on “creating value” at Aegis, so any other moves in the UK would not be until further in the future.
Boloré had put forward Philippe Germond (ex-president of French mobile firm Alcatel) and Roger Hatchuel (former owner of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival) as candidates for seats on Aegis’ board at yesterdays AGM and reports in the press before the voting had claimed that Bolloré would call an extraordinary general meeting if his demands for further board representation were refused (see Aegis Revenues Up 22%).
