Britain’s Fondness For WAP Increases

WAP Phone WAP usage in the UK continues to perform strongly, with 1.66 billion page impressions viewed in the UK during May, an increase of 14.1% compared to the same period in 2004, according to new figures from the Mobile Data Association (MDA).

May enjoyed an average daily total of 53.8 million page impressions viewed, not quite as strong as the average daily total of 58.9 million in April, but a strong sign of the UK public’s affinity with WAP technology (see UK WAP Usage Continues To Grow).

The growth leads on from an impressive performance in March, which saw internet usage via mobile phones setting a new record total of 1.82 billion page impressions for the month (see Wap Usage Rises By A Third In March).

The increased use of WAP echoes that of text messaging, which saw a continued upward climb in May to an impressive 2.63 billion messages sent during the month (see Texts Continue To Rise Throughout May).

May also saw the highest average daily figure recorded to date, with 85 million messages being sent per day.
