PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has predicted that faster broadband connection is set to fuel growth in the video games market, which is expected to generate a staggering $55.6 billion revenue by 2008.
Internet and wireless is expected to continue to steal market share from standalone console gaming in all continents, with Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific set to enjoy fierce growth of 30%.
Gaming advertising specialists Massive Inc, are currently designing a roll out plan which will allow advertisers to use gaming to provide the same flexible advertising platform as TV, radio and the web. Claudia Batten, director of business affairs at Massive said: “We are providing a campaign-based model that lets advertisers get in and out of the game, and they are comfortable with that.”
According to audit and consulting firm Deloitte Research, gaming is the fastest growing media segment and is about to become the key driver for innovation and expansion in various high technology, new media and entertainment markets over the next six years.
