Bulldog Introduces Fastest Pay As You Go Broadband Service

Cable and Wireless owned broadband provider, Bulldog is introducing the first pay as you go 4 Megabits per second broadband plus service, enabling users to pay only for the time they spend online.

Bulldog has introduced two new services, Start@ctive and Call@ctive, which are specifically designed for the budget conscious home user, offering the benefits of broadband, but with the flexibility of a pay as you go user. The service has uncapped downloads of up to 4 meg, nearly 80 times faster than a dial-up connection.

Commenting on the new technology, Richard Greco, chief executive officer of Bulldog said: “Up until now, customers who wanted to experience the excitement of a 4 meg broadband service had to pay a substantial premium over the cost of standard broadband. Bulldog’s new, flexible, time-metered offering will further fuel the growth of broadband in the UK by giving customers even more affordable broadband, and more importantly, broadband that they control.”

Bulldog Start@ctive costs only £15.50 per month, including VAT, and includes a super-fast broadband connection at up to 4 meg, with 400 online minutes included each month. Extra time is charged at 2.5p per minute. Bulldog’s Call@ctive service is designed for people who want super-fast broadband and unlimited phone calling throughout the UK.

Last week, BT unveiled a set of proposals to stimulate the UK’s telecoms industry, claiming that lower wholesale prices, faster broadband services and transparent, highly regulated access to its local network will provide faster and more exciting services to consumers and businesses.

The proposals were made in response to the latest stage of Ofcom’s Strategic Review and are designed to avoid a forced break-up of BT’s wholesale and consumer businesses by the regulator.
