Channel 4 Radio has become the first radio station to launch in the online virtual world of Second Life.
The move see the station gain access to the estimated 6 million members of the online population, with Channel 4 Radio providing its own dedicated Second Life radio show, reporting on day-to-day developments.
Subscribers will also be able to access Channel 4 Radio through Virtuallife.tv, Second Life’s internal broadcast network.
Speaking when the move was announced in November last year, Nathalie Schwarz, Channel 4’s director of radio, said: “Being the first radio station to launch in Second Life enables us to bring our range of programmes to new audiences who are interested in interactive content.
“Radio might be the oldest broadcast medium in the world, but technology opens up massive new opportunities for the future and Channel 4 Radio will not shy away from breaking new ground.”
