Charles Allen, former ITV chief executive, is set to return to TV as the non-executive director of Endemol, producer of Channel 4 reality show Big Brother.
He is set to advise Goldman Sachs Equity Partners, a shareholder in Endemol, on a variety of media issues.
Recent reports have claimed that Endemol could be getting ready to make a bid for ITV after the company’s co-founder said that the UK broadcaster was a possible takeover target.
However, it has also been reported that the Dutch firm’s level of debt make a bid for the whole of ITV unlikely.
Meanwhile, Italian company Mediaset said on Friday that it is considering a number of acquisitions, with ITV among them.
BSkyB currently owns a 17.9% stake in ITV, although it has been told to reduce this to below 7.5% by the Competition Commission (see ITV Welcomes Ofcom’s Public Service Proposals).
However, the satellite broadcaster is currently taking part in a legal challenge against this ruling.
