Cosmopolitan honours Blackett, McRae and Wolverson at AWE

Cosmopolitan has honoured three senior female advertising icons at its annual Advertising Week Europe event – Cosmopolitan: A Celebration of Female Talent.

Karen Blackett OBE, chairwoman, MediaCom UK; Helen McRae, CEO UK and chair Western Europe, Mindshare; and Sara Wolverson, marketing director consumer beauty UKI, Coty Inc., were all celebrated during a ceremony at The Orangery at Kensington Palace on Tuesday evening.

The women were selected from both agencies and brands for ’embodying Cosmopolitan’s Sharper, Smarter, Bolder ethos’; the criteria being sharper for leadership skills, smarter for women empowerment and bolder for industry innovation.

“Cosmopolitan’s Celebration of Female Talent is a flagship event in the Ad Week Europe calendar and, once again, we’ve selected three women who truly epitomise the attitude of the Cosmopolitan brand,” said Cosmo’s publisher Georgina Holt.

“Karen Blackett, Helen McRae and Sara Wolverson are all women, who through sheer determination and hard work, are at the top of their game. They are truly respected leaders in the advertising world, and make the perfect role models for young women everywhere wanting to make it in their chosen careers. ”

NARS’ PR and communications director Kate Langan; Michaela Asenova, senior VM and store design manager, Bare Minerals and Buxom, Europe; Stacey Fanner, client experience director, Hearts and Science; and OMD’s associate investment director Laura Garratt, were also recognised for ‘shaping the future of advertising’.

Holt added: “We are also delighted to recognise upcoming talent, who are already making waves within the industry, and have the potential to become future leaders in their own right.”
