CSI Floors Rivals As Five Takes Primetime Crown

CSI Five scooped a surprise ratings victory last night, as the continuing series of CSI:Crime Scene Investigation drew an average adult audience of 3.7 million, flooring competition from all terrestrial rivals in the same time slot.

Securing a 17.77% share in the 9-10pm time slot, CSI saw off competition from both BBC One’s Surviving Disaster, with 3.2 million adult viewers on average; and ITV1’s Holiday Showdown, with 3.3 million viewers.

A second episode of the CSI franchise followed, drawing an average audience of 2.5 million adult viewers, despite being a repeat.

Channel 4’s How To Divorce Without Screwing Up Your Children drew 922,000 meanwhile, recording the lowest primetime audience with its distinctly anti-Valentine’s content. The broadcaster’s award winning Shameless recorded better results, however, as 2.7 million tuned in for the current series’ penultimate episode.

BBC Two’s Winter Olympics coverage continued to perform well, notching up 2.9 million adult viewers on average, as slalom runs, ice hockey and speed skating took centre stage.
