Danny Donovan launches media agency Build Media with support from Miroma Group

Danny Donovan, the former UK CEO of Mediahub, has launched a media planning and buying agency that is being supported by Miroma Group.

Build Media Limited has pledged to be a “positive force in the media world” by building new solutions for advertisers and creating a more “sustainable, inclusive and safe future”.

The name Build comes from a desire to be “build-centric” in how the agencies works with clients, namely by being creative and collaborative.

Donovan, who is now CEO of Build, told The Media Leader: “There’s still a lot of negativity around in the marketing industry where many are still following a 1990s narrative of ‘someone’s got to lose’. But brands are looking to be more positive in how they approach their marketing.

“You can reflect that in media planning. The industry has already moved towards the area of attention [measurement and planning] and away from exposure. But there are other levels to drive positive attention, using trusted channels and ensuring media goes in the right context and is cognisant about people’s moods when they’re receptive to communications.”

Miroma Group is supporting the Donovan-led start-up by providing financial support, backend services, design and office space, as well as access to existing media planning and capabilities within the agency network.

Marc Boyan, founder and CEO of Miroma Group, said: “The independent agency sector is flourishing at the moment as brands recognise the benefits of a fully client centric approach. Miroma Group are at the forefront of that transformation.”

Donovan left as UK CEO of Mediahub Global, the Interpublic Group media agency, earlier this year and has over 30 years’ experience at media agencies. He had joined Mediahub in 2019 after nine years at WPP’s MediaCom, including as managing director, and has previously worked in senior roles at Initiative.

Ross Jenkins, Mediahub’s EMEA and APAC CEO, took over UK leadership duties after Donovan’s departure.
