ITV is likely to announce today that Dawn Airey, ex-Five and Sky boss, is to join the broadcaster in a senior management role.
Airey is understood to be in advanced negotiations with Michael Grade, ITV executive chairman, about a new job with responsibilities including overseeing the company’s UK and international production business.
A report in the Guardian quotes a source as saying: “ITV has been looking for a while for a big international production job. They approached a number of candidates – including some of the people they spoke to about the chief executive job. Headhunters were also hired. It’s been going on for about a month.”
At the end of April, Airey left TV start-up Iostar after one week, apparently owing to concerns about the company’s financial arrangements (see Airey Leaves Iostar).
Iostar announced on Monday that it is going into liquidation, following its inability to raise £30 million for acquisitions (see Iostar To Go Into Liquidation).
Before joining Iostar, Airey was head of channels and services at BSkyB, before which she was at Five for more than six years.
