NTL could be ready to announce the departure of Simon Duffy, its executive vice-chairman and former head next week, according to a report in today’s Times.
Duffy joined NTL as chief operating officer in 2003 and was made chief executive four months later, before being ousted as group head in 2005 in a move thought to have been triggered by pressure from investors.
In November, ITV rejected a takeover bid from NTL (see ITV Rejects NTL Merger Bid), saying that there was “little, if any, strategic logic for ITV to combine with NTL.”
