eBay prepares review of media planning and buying account

eBay is preparing a review of its £15 million media planning and buying account.

The company will start a formal pitch for the business at the start of next year, although it has already informed agencies of its plans to call a review.

PHD, which previously held the account, split with eBay in February after it moved most of its ad spend into digital and below-the-line channels.

However, it is understood that eBay is planning to increase its media spend and move back into above-the-line activity.

Earlier this week, eBay appointed the Aegis-owned Carat to handle media for its estimated £1.2 million pre-Christmas UK campaigns.

Digital agency Essence currently handles the auction site’s online planning and buying account (see eBay Hires Essence To Handle Online Planning And Buying Account).
